Classification of Amorphous Alloy transformers

According to the classification of transformers, they can be mainly divided into three categories: ordinary silicon steel transformers, wound core transformers and amorphous transformers; the biggest difference between the three products is that the core materials and processing technology are different, and their respective losses are also different. Traditional transformers are made of materials such as silicon steel sheets, while amorphous alloy materials are greener, more environmentally friendly and energy-saving than silicon steel sheets.

1. Characteristics of amorphous alloy transformers

1) Low no-load loss value

The characteristic of amorphous alloy transformers is that the no-load loss value is low. Because amorphous alloy materials have magnetic conductivity, they are easier to magnetize or demagnetize. Therefore, the no-load loss of amorphous transformers is lower than that of traditional transformers. The no-load loss of amorphous alloy transformers is about 20% of that of S9 transformers.

2) Energy saving and environmental protection
Amorphous alloy transformers are a new type of environmental protection and energy-saving transformers. In terms of environmental protection, it has been tested that when amorphous alloy cores are used in oil-immersed transformers, they can effectively reduce the emission of harmful gases such as CO, SO, and NO, and reduce the degree of air pollution, so they can be called “green products” among power products in the 21st century. For areas with large power load fluctuations such as roads, urban infrastructure and residential areas, the energy-saving benefits of amorphous alloy transformers are obvious.
3) High magnetic permeability and low coercivity
The unit iron loss of amorphous alloy materials is lower than that of silicon steel materials, and the coercivity is about 1/7 of that of cold-rolled oriented silicon steel sheets. Since amorphous alloy materials are isotropic soft magnetic materials and do not have a crystal structure, they have the characteristics of high magnetic permeability and low coercivity.

2. Application prospects of amorphous alloy transformers
As my country’s “energy saving and consumption reduction” policy continues to advance, it encourages the development of energy-saving, low-noise, and intelligent distribution transformer products. Some high-energy consumption distribution transformers no longer meet the development trend of the industry and are facing the needs of technology upgrades and replacements. In the future, they will gradually be replaced by energy-saving, material-saving, environmentally friendly, and low-noise amorphous alloy transformers.
